Southern right whales migrate from Antarctica to the sheltered bays of Southern Africa to mate and calve. They can be seen along the coast of the Overberg coastline between July and January.

Boats navigated by experienced skippers depart from Gansbaai and Kleinbaai harbours and take you out to see these mammoth creatures nursing and basking metres away. Look out for Cape fur seals, various coastal marine birds and African penguins.  If you’re lucky you might even spot a humpback or Bryde’s whale.
